SCANDBUILD AT BELLA CENTER 31 MARCH – 2 APRIL 2009
ScandBuild unites the Scandinavian Building Sector

These days we are flooded with information telling us that the building trade is in deep crises and how long-lasting it will be. In the view of this ScandBuild at Bella Center is scheduled at the exact right time. It will be a meeting place for the Scandinavian building trade at which inspiration and a positive spirit are at the forefront.

The financial crisis is certainly a reality in the building trade, no doubt about that. However, building will continue in the future and even increase. This is a fact not least among the various stakeholders present during three intensive days at this year’s ScandBuild late March/early April.
   – We probably all agree that less than a year ago the building trade was at the verge of explosion. Then almost everything was about delivering in time which resulted in competition for both materials and competent manpower, comments Hans-Erik Kristensson, project manager of ScandBuild for the second time in a row.
   – Thanks to the crises we finally have time to reflect. Now we have the opportunity to improve the whole building process and discover even better ways of building. Now we have time to learn about the many new materials and methods that have emerged over the recent period. This is how we can improve quality, build more economically, more energy efficient, and more eco-friendly.
This way the meeting place ScandBuild will provide an important dose of inspiration and innovative thinking for the building trade. The wheels should not cease to turn, just because we are all focusing on the wrong thing!

Inspiring conferences and world-class speakers
During the three days of ScandBuild the visitor will at one single location have the opportunity to receive all the inspiration, information and business contacts required to meet the future challenges of the building trade.
The visitor can listen to architects from BIG, aart, 3XN and C.F. Møller telling about the ideas behind their world-renown projects.
ScandBuild is also the place for a number of interesting conferences where the delegates will learn in detail about building processes in the future. The lecturers are leaders in Scandinavia within their respective fields.
Furthermore inspiring specialized exhibitions will present the latest novelties in the building sector, as well as architectural models and research projects from the School of Architecture in Copenhagen. In addition to this exhibitors from a large part of Europe will show the latest products and services.

SCANDBUILD AT BELLA CENTER 31 MARCH – 2 APRIL 2009
Strong construction market in Scandinavia

The Scandinavian construction boom continues apace, with the latest figures showing that it will carry on for many years to come.

Having experienced a construction boom in Scandinavia for a number of years, it is pleasing to note that market conditions remain brisk in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
The construction industry is working at full speed. The latest figures* show that the value of construction projects started has grown by around 10% per year for the last 6-7 years, reaching new heights in recent years of almost 15% per year. These trends show that the boom will continue for many years to come.
The main reason for this is that significant investments are currently being made in both infrastructure and commercial properties, whilst the demand for housing continues to rise in line with population figures. The Öresund region is one of the most expansive parts of Scandinavia, and it is here that much of this investment is taking place.

Success brings its own problems
However, the success of the construction industry does create problems. There is a real shortage of labour, and many major construction projects are not being started due to a lack of construction workers. Colleges are training new workers at full pace, but the need is urgent and there are not enough trained workers. More and more companies are therefore looking to other countries to supply their workforce needs.
Another problem is the fact that supplies of building materials and construction equipment are starting to run out. Combined with long delivery times, a shortage of materials and equipment is forcing construction companies to seek alternative solutions. These include turning to suppliers outside Scandinavia or looking into other types of materials and building technologies.

The Scandinavian construction industry comes together at ScandBuild
During the last week of March 2009, decision-makers from the Scandinavian construction industry will come together for inspiration and an overview of where the industry is headed in the future. The products, technologies and services which will take the industry there will be presented in a well-planned venue which combines product displays with talks, conferences, themed displays and one-to-one meetings.
ScandBuild 2009 will offer an excellent opportunity for all suppliers looking for ways to break into the Scandinavian market, representing an effective way to reach a large number of decision-makers in a single location.
